Vine

 

Vines grow along the ground or use other objects to climb on.  This allows them grow long without having to build strong stems.

 

Vines often use tendrils to connect to other objects.

Other times, a vine uses a woody stem (called a liana) to support a larger structure.

Poison Oak sometimes forms a vine that can climb 100 feet into a tree.  Watch out for Poison Oak vines hanging down from above your head!
