        Description



Foothill Needlegrass is an erect bunchgrass, common and widespread in California.



Stems are topped by a branching inflorescence of nodding spikelets dominated by long twisting awns.



Each spikelet contains a single floret with a long awn. The awn has two bends that twist when it dries.
