 A lobe is a section of a leaf caused by a deep indent.

Each pointed area on this leaf is a lobe.

It's useful to talk about lobes when defining a leaf. In this case you could say that each lobe comes to a point. Other leaves might have "rounded lobes", or be "slightly lobed".
