EW Bloom
Hedgenettles have the square stem of the Mint family but don't smell minty.
They have long soft hairs on the stem, leaves and flowers.
Opposite leaves
are long, hairy, toothed, and pointed.
Found in dry, shady places.

This Mint family flower has a small hood covering reproductive organs and a large lip hanging below.
Up to six flowers grow in a whorl at
leaf axils
on the upper stem. Leaves are opposite, crinkly, and have scalloped edges. They can grow to 5 inches long.
Hedge Nettle grows in tight communities of upright plants.
