Description
Related to ferns, horsetail reproduces from spores and has two kinds of stems.
Green, erect, solid cylindrical stems bear branches and do photosynthesis.
Separate brown stems bear reproductive organs.
Found on stream banks and wet areas

Horsetail Family (Equisetaceae)
Whorls of 12-40 narrow branches emerge all along the stem.
A separate fertile stem bears spores at the top.
Grows to 4 or 5 feet tall in wet areas.
