This is one of the beautiful globe lilies.
A single, shiny,
basal
leaf grows along the ground and persists after the rest of the plant dies back.
Stem leaves are shorter.
Widespread in shady to open areas, often on slopes and rocks.
CA native.

Beautiful white to pink globe flowers hang down from slender arching stems.
A pair of leafy
bracts
grow above the nodding flower. Petals overlap slightly and almost close together at the tip.
Normally closed, this open flower shows crescent-shaped
nectaries
and sparse but long hairs.
