2 petals point up and 3 petals form the bottom of an opening trumpet shape. The yellow hairs are infertile

, and give us the name "Beardtongue"
Flowers form whorls around the stem. Note the penstemon shape, with a fat tube opening up into 5 petals.
Leaves are longer than wide, opposite, and are found on the bottom half of the stem. Flowers make whorls along the top half.
