        Description

  • Flowers are the delphinium shape, with a spur behind and two long vertical "petals" in front. This species has a dense cluster of flowers at the top of a 2-foot stem.
  • Leaves are interesting - first divided into lobes, and then often redivided into fingers on each lobe.
  • Found in dry sandy soils in foothills.

This side view shows the purple delphinium spur to the right and long blue "petals" pointing up and down.



Leaves are deeply lobed, often with fat "fingers" on each lobe.



Erect stems end in dense cylindrical clusters of Larkspur flowers.
